The Montcau

La Mola is located between the regions of Barcelona Bages and Vallès Occidental . Part of the Catalan pre-coastal mountain range, from the stream of les Arenes and Ripoll river into the town of Matadepera . Form of water dividing the basins of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs. La Mola with its 1.104m above sea level, is the highest mountain in the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac , classified as such since 1972 and with its 13,694 ha. is one of the characteristic features of the landscape throughout the region of Valles. At the top of its flat top is the Romanesque monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt , now converted into a museum-restaurant.

The geological origin of this curious rock formation is due to the formation of clusters having a reliefcharacteristic due to the succession of cliffs combined with strips of softer relief corresponding to an alternation of layers of sediments with different resistance to erosion. The hard layers are eroded more slowly and its reversal could leave witnesses shaped monoliths like Cavall Bernat or Castellassa Can Torres, visible from much of the inland plain and known as the Cova del Drac (Dragon's Lair) where medieval legend locates the hideout of one of these mythological animals. As elsewhere in the massif, the caves and sinkholes are common (Manel Cave, Cave Frare, Gap Can Pobla).

Easy Hiking Climbing the two most famous peaks of the beautiful Natural Park of Sant Llorenç de Munt i Serra Obac. Climb to begin to Montcau (1066m.), Where we can enjoy spectacular views and the end will crown La Mola (1107m.), Where the monastery of Sant Llorenç de Munt (Barcelona)

La Mola y El Montcau

We will leave Northwest Terrassa (Barcelona) by BV-1221 county road in direction & oacute; na Matadepera. Will surpass the population & oacute; n and continue along this road until you reach the kil & oacute; Underground 14.8 where we find the Centre, Information & oacute; n del Coll d & rsquo;. Estenalles and where we can leave the car in the car park

We started the ride along the paved road that goes right in front of the Center, Information & oacute; n del Coll d & rsquo; Estenalles (878m.). Soon the road begins to climb a steep and quite pr & aacute; cticamente 300m. AFTER & eacute; s, we left the trail that goes up to Montcau (1066m.)

.

The slope is just as strong until, in the & uacute; last section, this STILL is n m & aacute;. S pronounced and makes us have to take it easy

We have come just a kil & oacute; our subway route and we are in the first peak, Montcau (1066m.). Drom this point we have spectacular views of our objective, La Mola and the neighboring mountains of Montserrat.

The descent is on the opposite side we have uploaded. A steep descent to leave us & aacute; back to the track secu & iacute; masters above and continue on our left. In no time we arrived at Coll d & rsquo; you (. 942m), large neck under the shade of the oaks

.

We crossed the Coll d & rsquo; you and continue along the marked path, shaded by the TREES slightly rising. We walk by Carena called Pag & egrave; s. If we look carefully we can see the oak Palau 30 meters and a trunk of 1.5 meters is one of the m & aacute; s majestic natural park

.

A couple of miles & oacute; m & eacute AFTER; s the way down & aacute; abruptly, leaving us at elevation 884 meters. At this point, we will overcome all lost.

At this point, we can onlymake STILL last effort to reach the summit of La Mola, where we find the monastery of Sant Cry & ccedil (1107m.); Munt and if we want to dine on the restaurant.

The return will do the same path while avoiding the Montcau up again.
