Time: 04:00 h. The start of our trek is located in the sanctuary of Arantzazu , which you access from the town of Onate (Oñate, in Euskara). From Oñate took the road GI-3591, about 10 kilometers that will not lead to Arantzazu Sanctuary .
Shrine of Our Lady of Aránzazu is dedicated to the Virgin of Aranzazu, patroness of the province and would have appeared in 1496. It is situated 750 meters. The basilica was built in the fifties.
We start from the back of the sanctuary, behind a bar-restaurant next to a small parking lot. For the few minutes we found a green gate with a sign that indicates the direction of Urbia .
We address, first a wide road that goes into a magnificent beech, shortly after the road becomes a path. This part of the road presents no problem, la slope is not very steep and the forest around us is wonderful.
arrive at Collado Elola , where we see some large stones placed in line to our right away. We continue on the path to see the Great Depression of Urbia, a large meadow where we find a chapel and later, after about 45 minutes of walking, a refuge and a bar.
continue smoothly along the road flanked by trees. We crossed the stream and started climbing again, very soft in this section.
Laterfind some cottages here are called shacks. We passed between these constructions along the path.
From this point the slope becomes steeper for more rocky terrain that make us gain altitude quickly.
reached a hill where we can see the cross that is on the peak Aizcorri . continue along the path markedto find the detour that leads to the summit of Aketegui .
Once atAketegui follow the ridge a few yards until you reach the Aitxuri . To get here we will have invested about 2:30 am approximately.
The return is by the same path.
